I think I'll say final. One of my favourite things about MM is getting to see how all of the different characters react to the fact that the moon is falling as they go about their lives, and the third day is when everyone really shows their hand in that regard, like the postman delivering the letter to himself, the sword trainer cowering in the back room, or the head carpenter standing defiantly under the tower. It nicely wraps up all of the character development you can see if you follow a character through the full three days, which I really like.
