Pokmon came in that strange era of anim where we got most of the shows with the American intros, regardless of whether it was dubbed or subbed (in Dutch that is). In this period (probably a few years after the anim craze of the mid 90's started), we only got one show that kept its Japanese intro, while being the American dub, so I can only assume it had also kept its opening in the Americas.
