I didn't even know that was a thing until about a month ago, tbh

I think it was maybe a couple months for me. I think it was here that I heard about it, as well...

rumor is that sony also had something to do with it, as well as best buy getting rid of theirs

Was this because of that thing that happened last week? With the PS games on Amazon?

Last year Amazon Canada dropped it from 20% to 10%, and I just got the email today saying they were getting rid of it entirely.

Which basically means I'll never preorder a game again.

Not much reason to usually

They sometimes had pre-order content or whatever. But I do agree that there wasn't usually a reason to do it. I stopped after seeing how my mom would never pre-order a game and always still got it first day.

Games are cheaper than ever and you tend to get much more game for $60 than you used to

Cheaper how, though? Do you mean in terms of adjusting for inflation?

I was wondering this, too... Though I do understand the much more game than you use to get part...

No even before inflation games are pretty much flat out cheeper, and they tend to drop in price quickly now adays, in the past they would generally stay the same or get even more expensive when they went out of print.
