They're not the government, people don't have to uphold proportionate punishment, just as companies aren't bound by free speech.


but what he did was a crime, so he gets punished for it

Assault is a crime, but disproportionate punishment isn't.


Murder is, though.

You don't get charged for murder because it's a disproportionate penalty, you get charged for murder because it's an unacceptable act.


And you and the other guy are advocating for murder being allowed in response to someone's wallet being stolen >_>
