I haven't heard of Sinemia before. Is it a service provided by a theatre chain and if not how do they make money?

Sinemia's known a bit more in Europe and the way they make money is probably robbing from themselves. instead of moviepass billing monthly they bill you yearly, giving them more leeway to survive as that + same things moviepass probably used (investors, selling data, etc) is more in their favor. they also offered fewer movies but that's not the case anymore. right now they aren't more expensive than moviepass anymore: $4 for 1 movie, $8 for 2 movies, $10 for 2 movies but this includes premium stuff (imax, dobley, etc), and $14 for 3 movies (premium stuff). before the plan change they were known as a relative alternative to moviepass that sacrificed daily movies for advanced purchases and better theater options but now it's honestly a better value; 3 movies for $10 from a service that barely works or 2 movies for $8 (alternatively, 2 imax/dobley movies for $10) from a service that does and lets you purchase in advance.

the big thing about purchasing in advance: works on fathom events. so it actually works on the anime movies that have been popping up. this is something that neither moviepass nor AMC A-List offers.
