| Lightning Strikes 08/10/18 6:58:17 PM #8: | Question for American friends with a good aknowledge of the system: In the UK and other systems, if a politician or candidate does or says something really bad they can get booted out of the party ("withdrawing the whip"), even if they have already been elected. In such a case they keep the post but are independent. Does this happen in the US? I ask because I keep seeing Republicans who have said or done absolutely outrageous things just carrying on no problem. Like Missouri "Jewish conspiracy to steal baby organs" and "Hitler was right" guy.
