#14: The Australian Outback
Average Ranking: 13.36
Standard Deviation: 7.80

Mana Sword: 2 - No writeup

DoctorBlind: 4 - A few reasons contribute to me loving this season so much, but Ill knock out the personal ones first. Elisabeth is the first of two Survivors Ive ever met in person and as a little kid at the time, I had crushed on her hard during the show (what am I talking about I still do). Also, I owned the video game on PC which was terrible, but still kinda fun. The season itself had super intense moments, focused on camplife like few others have, and had a genuinely fantastic cast that were probably, if anything, too nice on the whole.

GTM: 6 - this was the peak of the early seasons, it's all downhill from here

BCT: 9 - Survivors most-watched season has aged better than its predecessor and shows one of the most developed casts playing a strategic game free of the cluelessness of Pagong in an intense, hostile environment. High praise for Varner pinning Kimmi and Alicia against each other and Colby blindsiding Jerri. The extra three days were unnecessary, though.

Naye745: 9 - a season that had a lot of pressure to follow up the amazing success of Borneo, and somehow succeeded. has had the most eventual returnees (8/16) of any Survivor cast, and had a shocking ending and final vote. it's hard to rank the old seasons with modern ones, but Australia stands out as at least one of the best of its era.

eaed: 12 - This season is just so much fun to start and it is the social phenomena. And it keeps the phenomena going with probably the best premerge in survivor history and a fantastic merge episode but in the end the post-merge is so boring that this is as far as it can go.

Illuminatus: 15 - No writeup

YoRyan: 20 - season dies with Jerri

FBike: 21 - As was common in the early years of Survivor, strategy wasn't as much of a thing. This has its upsides and its downsides.

darkx: 23 - Take your nostalgia goggles off, people, it's not that good.

Inviso: 26 - As the follow-up season to Borneo, Australia is almost like a bizarre version of the initial outing. Borneos pre-merge is basic, whereas Australias pre-merge actually has some fascinating moments and eliminations. Borneos post-merge is amazing, whereas Australias post-merge becomes dull and formulaic REALLY fast. The problem is that Australia is a complete reaction to Borneo, and while the villains triumphed in Borneo, Australia is all about the good people winning. Unfortunately, good people means a bunch of polite, low-energy players who make the end-game a slog to get through, when the end-game should be the most exciting part of the season. It doesnt help that the conditions are EXTREMELY rough late in the game, to the point where some players were at a legitimate risk of death. Yeah, that doesnt make for a fun season.
