Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2

Ok, going in with low expectations so I should enjoy this more the second time.

First scene is solid, gets you ready to learn about Starlord's family.

First scene with Guardians is actually really good in terms of banter. Baby Groot dancing around while they fight the big thing is cute, but kinda silly. Funnier in terms of how all the rest of the cast reacts to him being around the fight. I don't think any song choice can be as good as Come and Get Your Love from the first movie though.

Do more people like Awesome Mix 1 or 2?

The Sovereign leader really honed in on Quill's father, there. It's almost like

"Hand me some of that yarna root." "It's not ripe yet. And I hate you."

You have to go through that QUANTUM asteroid field. There are some really good moments in the film - like Rocket losing Groot, Quill catching him, tossing him back to Drax without looking, then him handing Groot to Gamora. The way they treat Groot is cute as hell.

And there are some bad moments - the root not being ripe is already making me hate myself, even at the second mention of it.

That said, to this point, Gamora has been one of the funniest characters and they really gave her no time on the trailers. I remember that fiasco.

Hey look! It's Kurt Russell!

And now it's Sylvester Stallone! And the ice guy he's with, who I remember is somebody important but I don't remember who that actor is.

Sad snowy planet to rub in Yondu's fall from grace. Sovereign showing up here with the carpet getting caught is cringe humor. The little parts of this movie that make it worse for me.

Mantis is annoying at first. And at second.

I really like that they give Rocket a chance to jones all over some guys, and I really like that the stupid not-ripe joke is over.

"I wanted to experience what it truly meant to be human" YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A HUMAN IS, WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT THAT MAKES NO SENSE

"We got a couple boxes of hands if that one don't work out"

"No! It's too adorable to kill! Take it to the tailor!" Stuff like this is super cute, but it definitely makes for a weird tone during the film.

Awwwwww yeah I forgot that Yondu and Rocket connected so much this movie. Them + Groot sneaking through the Captain's chambers is the best thing.

Sean Gunn's character is also amazing in this film. So much emotion.

Gamora is so great. Showing a slight bit of emotion when Quill yells at her. So subtle, so good. Also, Nebula finally admitting her gripes with Gamora.

Random Stan Lee appearance with some Watchers.

Drax pointing out that they aren't friends, but family is really on the nose and probably unneeded. But saying "nobody gets left behind... except maybe you" to Nebula is top notch.

Ego coming out with his villainry in the reveal is actually pretty good, especially the part where he turns Quill against him and he blasts the heck out of Ego's body.

Also, underrated moment - when Quill says "we gotta kill Ego. Rocket!" and Rocket is completely in sync and follows along just fine. Good ol' team dynamic working out.

Gamora, Drax, and Mantis landed very well for falling like 100 feet.

"Does anybody have any tape?"

"You look like Mary Poppins!" "Is he cool?" "... Hell yeah."

This big blue goop is really dangerous. You would think people would take the opportunity to run, and not look at it closely. Still, a lot of people are dying here.

"You shouldn't have killed my mom and squished my Walkman!" Quill proceeds to go all Super Skrull on his ass.

Oh and the pac-man -_-

to be cont.
