If someone wants to try something different and it connects with people offering them something of value then what's the problem? I've enjoyed many games I wouldn't exactly describe as "fun" when I played Journey I loved it but I wouldn't describe it as a game about fun. If someone wants to use art, music, narrative, alternative forms of gameplay, etc. Let them.
