The mental illness aspect of it scares me more and more upon each new viewing. It's a chilling metaphor for what can happen if you just push down things that are eating away at you. It was not at all what I expected the first time I watched it, but after digesting it and rewatching it, you appreciate how well-crafted and directed it is. I was also comparing it a bit to Hereditary while watching it this time, there's a lot of parallels.
