I keep hearing that when it's not dying. It's just transforming, or trying to do so, to meet the market. Unfortunately the current market is garbage, so that leaves MMOs with adapting to garbage means or atmosphere, with no real form of sustainability once people no longer have the money to afford cash shop items. If MMOs actually do die, it will be because no one who can afford games at all will be interested in playing because MMOs never interested them in the first place, and no one could find a feasible means to set MMOs on a new direction. By that point, video games in general by be conceived as "dead" because the market itself was allowed to fester.

Remember, MMOs came from MUDs, and MUDs could not be sustained for long because the market demanded change. The market needs change now.
