Like I'm not doubting your experience but even on my minmax Awakening run, getting Galeforce was the "thank god" moment when I could finally switch back to a class that could actually contribute beyond Rally Movement and pair-up. It just has not been good to me and it seems like you need a lot of extra effort to make it good.

It depends on how much experience you get her, plus stat booster usage. If I'm making Sumia part of the team she gets the first Seraph Robe so she can actually survive and the first Energy Drop, then pairs up with Kellam for chapter 3 and Frederick for chapter 4 and beyond since they provide the right boosts for each other. If you feed her kills early she'll usually be strong enough to get a lot of experience in the desert chapters and promote fairly early. It's probably not the best low turn count approach (that tends to be all Robin all day, even moreso than usual), but it's not all that hard to do.

The important thing is that Robin and whoever s/he is paired up with basically solos the majority of any given map, so all you're really doing with the rest is picking who else gets experience, except in cases where flying units can put in work regardless, which obviously Sumia gets to do regardless. Lunatic Awakening is really just the Robin show where you pick one or two other combat units to use as a project on the side and for the sake of unlocking children chapters for more experience/items, then riding the kids the rest of the way, so you might as well pick the character that produces Galeforce/Rescue shenanigans eventually...regardless of how dubious the magic stat may be lol
