Anyone who praises the requirement for people to have car insurance is essentially just praising a tax on poor people. Actually, no. You're praising the idea of making someone totally helpless and possibly giving them jail-time due to the fact that they're poor. #Morality "You know how we can make people get car insurance!? Take their license so they can't work anymore!" Americans, man. We're fucking dumb; we cry about injustices against people, then praise injustices when they benefit us. Yay! That's not really the issue, the issue is insurance companies taking advantage of the mandatory nature to charge vast profit margins (or just plain old price people off the road). Pretty much. The car insurance industry is certainly not without issues, but the fact of the matter is that ** happens on the road, and somebody's gotta pay for it. Mandating insurance ensures that everyone ends up contributing to that pot based on how likely they are to be pulling from it (ideally), so the money exists for the necessary repairs.
