Also idk if it shows in whatever you're watching, but in both that area and the previous one, if you help the guys losing the war out they'll all fight alongside you. Right after the cutscene with Octopus and Vamp, you can sneak down and take out all the guards to free the prisoners. They'll all get guns and it'll help you out. I mean, true, but still. That's pretty cool.
