I only know of Ventriloquist through BTAS, but was his origin in the accurate to the comic?

No. In BTAS he was a ventriloquist that suffered from a DID.
In the comic, Wesker saw his parents being killed by an accident, which shocked him and made him repress all his emotions. As an adult, he got a psychotic break and killed a man in a barfight, and got sent to Blackgate prison. His cellmate had made himself a puppet from the Blackgate gallow tree that he called Woody. The cellmate knew ventriloquism and was very protective of the puppet, he could beat up Wesker just for looking at the puppet.
One night Wesker had had enough, and prepared to hang himself in the cell. Then Woody started to talk to him, convincing him to escape from the prison instead. The cellmate woke up and started to attack Wesker, carved a scar on Woodys face by mistake and got killed. Wesker escaped with Woody, who decided to change name to Scarface and start a life of crime.

Thanks.. very interesting, but I can see how time/themes might be limited in putting it in a 30 minute cartoon. While we are on this - does BTAS reflect Mad Hatter's origin? (that he was trying to attract the attention of a girl)
