No, you don't get severance for quitting. Same way you don't get unemployment for quitting.


Actually, both would depend on situation.

People do get severances for quitting. But its usually a contractual deal. Example: Golden Parachute.

As for Unemployment for quitting: Ive done it twice. It depends on why you quit.

Right. It's much the same. You can't collect in those situations unless you fall under specific circumstances. Quitting because you realized you don't like coming into work does not qualify by any metric

I've only rarely seen this with At Home jobs, one of my friends just quit and when he filled out an unemployment application, he told them that he was laid off and he got approved for Unemployment. It's rare, but I can't see that happening for physical jobs.

That's weird because here the government would need to see your record of employment from your previous employer to confirm the pay history and also the status for the employee leaving. Which would specify quit.
