Perhaps the dumbest thing - Sam Wilson isn't superpowered. Clint... isn't superpowered? At least, this version isn't, is he? Paul Rudd isn't superpowered. WHY ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE IN THE WATER PRISON? Scarlet Witch is seriously the only one who deserves to be there on a basis of being "superpowered".

I think the best part about this movie was for sure the action. The first chase scene with Cap+Sam+T'challa chasing down Bucky was awesome. The whole climax with the two sides fighting against each other... just wow. Every hero got their chance to do their thing. Sam and Bucky had some great synergy. The shot with the 12 of them running at each other across the tarmac was one of the best two shots in the film.

Vision kinda took a backseat in the battle... he could've done a lot more, but he was really uninvolved. I guess they figured he wouldn't be as fun to write in, but eh. Seeing Paul Rudd do the Giant-Man version of Pym Particles was great... someone needs to explain to me why going giant doesn't make him lose density and have the same strength as his regular form.

Widow vs Hawkeye was cute, but Scarlet Witch jonesing all over people was too fun to watch. She dropped a bunch of cars on Tony. She threw Widow into a truck. All so much yes.

Really sad that Sam and Tony didn't catch Rhodey. Seriously, Iron Man + War Machine is the movie we're missing, and it freaking sucks that he had to fall. I guess he's the least unique and most expendable of everyone, but damn. Don Cheadle is the man.

I get Tony choosing to fight in the end... it stopped being about the Sokovia Accords, and at that point, was purely personal. His rage could've been highlighted a little more, but I think my true favorite shot of the film was the extended take of Cap and Bucky fighting Tony. You know the one.

I am... VERY glad that Zemo killed the other soldiers and just let the heroes duke it out in the end. A very real conflict, with emotion and desperation on both sides.

In the end, Cap both won the fight, and the personal battle. He apologized, but perhaps both recognized that the right thing happened - it was very important for Tony to recognize that his side was needed. For any sort of Avengers to keep existing... any sort of super-powered beings to stand on the side of the public, they had to have that side. (though who does he have at that point... Vision? Rhodes got rekt, Natasha betrayed too, T'challa is a foreign citizen who can stay apart all he wants. Spidey is a kid.) Iron Man's side was important but he was left with nothing.

Cap needed to win too... for himself. For Bucky. For Wanda. But eh, that's it. Clint should go back to his family. Paul Rudd to his acting career. Presumably that happens. Wanda I expect would stay with Cap and Sam. Widow is ???

Avengers: Civil War was a very engaging movie. It was a really fun watch. While recency bias had it standing very tall for me, a little bit of thinking it over was enough to keep it below Winter Soldier. Depending on the day, I could maybe put GotG and Avengers above it. But for now, I'll let the recency bias hold it up.
