Kurapika effectively took himself out of the story with his power up because of it's extremely narrow use against the Phantom Troupe. Sure, it was convenient at the time, but it's basically how Togashi wrote him out. He would just not be nearly as useful in any other situation. ~~Similarly, Gon, the freaking main character, has barely had any screen time since his own trade for power.
