You really have to separate yourself from any emotional connection to the matches until you get a couple dates out of them. Imagine how they are experiencing this. There are way more men than women using the app. If the girl is at least average, she will be getting matches like crazy. You're one man in a sea of matches. A "Hi" is going to get lost in the 400 other "Hi"s she got. So unless you're in the top 20% of attractiveness (and have good pictures to show it off) you need to stand out some other way. That initial message is huge for the bottom 80% of us.
