It may seem counter intuitive to look at this way, but it completely applies in novels too.

Think about one of the things Seabass said -

Pitou is denied inner monologue here (a recurring theme) as the narrator drones f***ing endlessly about what she's thinking and how she's reacting.

Either way, we'd be hearing the same things described by somebody - whether it's Pitou or the Narrator, why does it matter?

Well, it matters because if Pitou tells us, we are seeing her perspective and how she feels about it. The narrator is instead telling us how she feels about it. It's a fundamentally removed perspective.

In a novel, it may be hard to tell the difference at times since everything is conveyed by "telling us" about it, like describing scenery or what a person is wearing. But the difference between a bad author and a good author is generally that the bad author will tell you everything in the scene while a good author will introduce things in the scene through action or by the point of view characters perception.

Is it better to just tell us that a person is angry, or to show the person exhibiting angry characteristics?

It's just as relevant in novels.

edit: lol i referred to pitou as a her. TRAPPED
