(aside from the 26.8 ml difference because that's not the point) Every metric measurement can be subdivided just fine; you don't have to use a precise quantity of the next unit down in order to do so just because those smaller units exist. 1/16th of a quart can be divided down if you're really f***ing with a large scale recipe.
