A lot of terrible and atrocious people and activities have been approved by elections. None of these things needed to have happened and probably, none of them would have happened if she had won the election. I have no doubt that the majority of people are capable of doing awful things if those things are approved by authority. I think the Milgram experiment demonstrated that pretty well. So, if the claim is that people are deplorable because of that - I think it's a lot more than half of Trump supporters who are deplorable.
