I've voted for Democrats in 2 out of 3 presidential elections. 1 out of 2 if you toss out the protest vote from 2016. I think (speaking generally here) the failure to imagine how people who aren't progressive might vote Democrat is a huge problem, and what leads to nonsense statements like that famous deplorables comment. It feels like the only reason some people can think of why someone who leans conservative would vote Democrat is they don't like Trump.
