When I was a kid I found a book the size of a dictionary at the library with the first 500 comics of The Amazing Spiderman.

It was great. I should find a copy online. I don't even know what to Google, does anyone know?

There's no way something like that exists. 500 comics would be about 10,000 pages. No book binding could handle that many pages.

Now back in the early 2000s there was a company called GIT-Corp that did "40th anniversary releases" of Marvel Comics. These were digital comics on CD-ROM. The Amazing Spider-Man collection had something like 500 comics on one CD. There were also other collections for other Marvel collections.

That is probably what you are actually remembering. I don't recommend finding these GIT-Corp collections though. They are long out of print and not many copies were actually made, so they sell for ridiculously high prices nowadays. Plus, they are fairly low resolution scans since they're so old. Modern digital comics are much higher resolution. Something like Marvel Unlimited is a much better solution than these GIT-Corp collections.
