I do remember it being pretty challenging though, especially if you're not as leveled as you should be. I do some looking up, and it looks like the Final Mix version (which I assume you're playing) gives you what I considered the game-breaking ability at Level 43. The original game gave it at 30, which IIRC almost trivialized everything else. EDIT: And it also seems that the ability was nerfed in Final Mix.
