I hadn't played more than 10 or so chapters of any FE since the GBA games and I really appreciated the various simplifications that helped eliminate potential decision paralysis on my part (e.g. no children/caps on supports per unit/limited promotion items/weapon durability). I also no longer have the time or patience to restart a map three times because of my units dying, so casual mode was a plus.
