Hexproof has been around since M12 and more notably Innistrad, where they went pretty nuts with it. Before then the ability existed, but it wasn't keyworded, and it was used VERY sparingly (the only 4 I can recall offhand are Troll Ascetic, Silhana Ledgewalker, Slippery Bogle, and Thrun the Last Troll).
