That is not consistent with the decreasing ideological purity across the board. The political cycle is more like a tide that rises and lowers, steadily eroding everything it touches. The "losing" side doesn't cope by strengthening ideology and improving their arguments - instead they further compromise ideology and take on increasingly impulsive and emotional arguments to try to take back dominance. And when it works, that weakened ideology crystallizes as the new normal.

Ideological purity and intellectual arguments ALWAYS require massive and intentional effort and energy inserted into the system. It never shows up naturally or memetically. That's why strong ideologies are always counterculture. If you try to find comfort in the backswing of the pendulum like this guy, you will inevitably get dragged out to sea and drown.
