License be damned, it's my copy on a read-only format. They can't do anything about it.

Do you think there's only the game on that read-only format? If the creator wants, your disc will read that it shouldn't be read and that's the end of your play time forever.

The ironic thing is you're preaching like you know anything about discs while also pretending Steam isn't trash. HL2 was the ONLY game I purchased that straight up told me I couldn't use it. Any other disc or cart, toss it in and it works. Because I was offline Steam was like 'go F yourself' when trying to load HL2. If this is what you're defending then you're a lunatic.

First of all, I doubt that's what it actually said, and secondly, that's one game out of fucking millions.

Online every 2 weeks huh? Funny 'cause I remember M$ trying to push 'always online' a few E3's ago. They got what they deserved and never recovered. If PC users were smart they'd dump the platform just the same.

Are you really implying that once a fortnight is comparable to persistence?

You cannot change what's on the disc. Good gravy, has it been that long that you forgot everything? Steam has ruined you people. Master race my ass...

Well no it didn't use those words but that's what was implied. I wanted to play. Had no internet. HL2 refused to work at all which pissed me off. I even bought the disc to avoid the nonsense. Lesson was don't support Valve ever again. Ha I wish I had millions of games. Hundreds, maybe a thousand in the whole collection. HL2 was the sole problem.

Any kind of forced, repeated check in is bad for the market. Luckily the majority didn't stand for it. This is also why I say physical isn't going away anytime soon. It would be suicide for the platform to go digital. Ouya and PSP Go didn't thrive, XB was shot down. What more proof do you need? On top of that we're battling ISP's and their prices, caps, bandwidth. Games are getting more and more complicated. These things will never mesh together.
