The Avengers

I forgot that this movie opens with the Observer/Watcher whatever his name explaining that Loki is their ally, has the staff, and the chitauri are announced from the beginning. Pretty good stage setting.

There's the Thor scientist, being a puppet or something. And immediately they launch into the Tesseract opening a door. Just like it did with Red Skull... but backwards! And hello Loki. Come to be a jerk. His eyes are really blue in this film.

This is so OBVIOUSLY Joss Whedon the way Maria Hill is utilized in the beginning, followed by the Black Widow scene. "Put me on hold", then Coulson sits there listening to her kick some guys' asses. It's good though, and 5 minutes of her being in the movie, and I already feel like Avengers is treating Widow better than she was in Iron Man 2.

Congratulations! Your ED NORTON evolved into a MARK RUFFALO.

I like how Black Widow's eyes are watering a bit - she's legitimately afraid of the Hulk. It's awesome.

"War is won by soldiers". Cue switch to Captain America.

"You should've left it in the ocean". Cue switch to Iron Man in the ocean. "Phil!" "Uh, his first name is Agent". I absolutely love the chemistry between Pepper and Tony. Really helps drive the development that happened from Iron Mans 1 and 2 to here.

Coulson with Cap is the first time he has ever broken from his cold and professional demeanor. It's a little unnerving at this point, since he's always been above that.

Loki wasn't really this big of a jerk in Thor. And this Cap outfit is really blue.

Cap and Iron Man's first meeting sets the tone for their entire relationship, methinks. "Captain." "Stark."

Interesting how they hand-waved Thor showing up. "How much power did the Allfather have to conjure to get you here". But it's also cool how Thor, from the beginning, asks "Who controls you". He's got his eyes on the big guy from the beginning. Of course, I am referring to the big bad, Obadiah Stane.

I didn't realize how important the fight scene between Thor and Iron Man was. Really useful for putting Thor's power level in relative terms. A little weird that Cap's shield is strong enough to just block a Mjolnir blow, but whatever.

"He is my brother". "He killed 80 people in 2 days". "... He's adopted."

Also, love how giddy Cap gets when he recognizes a reference.

I like this first fight between Hulk and Thor. It's almost like foreshadowing for Thor 3 (I assume Hulk and Thor fight in that, based on the trailers).

Cap totally threw a guy off the helicarrier.
