Thor

A lot to digest in the first couple minutes. Hey Natalie! Boring pre-Asgard stuff happens. There are humans. Yuck.

So once upon a time, the people of the world were under attack by White Walkers, until they were saved by the Asgardians. Spoilers for GoT, I guess. Still, some really dark combat scenes are a great way to start a movie and a reminder that I shouldn't watch movies in the morning when I have to deal with glares.

I already love Loki. He's just the quiet brother always hanging around, knowing every single thing Thor says is wrong. And Odin's Vault... I saw the Infinity Gauntlet! I wonder how they'll incorporate this into the later movies.

No idea what the White Walkers want to steal. It's not the Tesseract, is it?

Mad Thor flips tables. What a babby. Luckily, Loki is there, like the good pal he is. Oh, but he's telling Thor he's right to wage war on White Walkers. Already being the Trickster God. I see you, Loki.

Sif is a cutie. This group of warriors is pretty neat, I hope they get some good time in. I have a feeling Thor is going to be sent to Earth and that'll be the last we see of big guy, Sif, and two other boring guys. And probably the last we see of Loki :(

Thor has no idea how to run a stealth mission. Guy walks around with a big red cape. It's fun to see him and the warriors go to town on some White Walkers but it's pretty obvious where this is all going.

Now we get some "Thor in a strange world" movie. Is this the girl from Two Broke Girls? I saw that show once.

Mjolnir made a much bigger crater than Thor did. Oh man, and they're turning the crater into a fucking barbeque. This is great.

Stan Lee as the guy in the truck trying to pull the hammer. Not bad for a cameo!

Ohhh Loki is possessed. No wait, Loki is a White Walker. Man, I never saw this movie originally but I completely understand why everyone loves him so much. What a good dude. Gets told he was kidnapadopted by Odin and still loves him. Oh but he gets to be king now.

NOW Thor is good at stealth. I also feel like a good portion of the directing of this movie is "how much can we show off Chris Hemsworth's bod".

Oh and Clint is hear. I had no idea Hawkeye made his debut in this film. I guess that makes sense, since Scarjo got to premier in Iron Man 2.

The romance subplot is kinda lame.

Ok, Loki's kinda being a dick now. Also, I can't help but notice he looks a lot like Data when he goes blue. Wait, no. Thrawn. Marvel is Disney. Star Wars is Disney.

Loki is Thrawn.

There's a little too much slow-mo in this film. Not as much as there was in Captain America, but it's unnecessary at times.

I'm having a little trouble understanding Loki's motivation. Like, he's clearly upset that he was never told the truth about his past, but that sort of trickery is right up his alley. Even in the end, he chooses to be Loki Odinson and kill his birth father. He even says he just wanted to make Odin proud.

I guess he planned to set himself up as the good son in the beginning, and just meant for Thor to be exiled and believe that Odin was dead, but when the Warriors went to Earth, that threw a wrench in the plans so he sent the Destroyer... which was really where he went wrong, I guess. Lying to Thor wasn't a good look, but having him killed was a step too far.

I suppose in the end, Loki said he did it all for Odin and Asgard. In this sense, he was the most well-developed villain in the MCU so far. But Red Skull was just a little bit better in terms of sheer villainry. Loki I guess was doomed by jealousy and lust for power and pride and probably a little mad due to finding out his true heritage. At least we'll never see Loki again, right?
