The two-party system is paraded as a means to prevent fringe parties from gaining a foothold, meanwhile it is entirely to blame for Donald "very fine people on both sides" Trump riding a populist wave to victory when people finally said "fuck it" to the establishment and wanted literally anything else.

Coalitions are where it's at because there's more accountability, not just robbing/trashing the place because the party isn't at your house. There's got to be a third equally viable option, at least, probably a fourth. That way nobody gets cocky and makes themselves more easily punished for any misdeeds. Your partner may stab you in the back if you go off the rails. America's party system is really not significantly different than China's.
