I really love the first Agent Carter season. I feel like it's just a perfect little mini series

I've only seen half the second season and haven't really felt like finishing it.

**SPOILERS BELOW***

Season 1 had a really cool structure. Peggy worked with the SSR by day on their cases and we saw her skills being neglected due to the inherent bias of the system, and goes on spy adventures by night working for Stark.

Because of the SSR's stance on Stark as a traitor, and Peggy knowing this stance to be flat out wrong, she helps him out by hunting the mysterious group that stole his bad babies, supported by his weird butler. Jarvis was a lot of fun supporting her, and she got into a lot of fun and cool spy situations while looking for Stark's inventions. She had to walk a dangerous line in avoiding detection by the SSR while working both with them and kind of against them. The cripple guy, Sousa, was on to her at various points which made things interesting. There was a terrific side mission where they left the country and hung out with the Howling Commandos. Stark's disappointment in himself for letting Cap die was explored a little, just like with Peggy. I disliked Dooley to begin wtih, but ended up being pretty sad when he died. Thompson was pretty pathetic until the end but even though I disliked him as a person I liked him as a character.

All around, it was just a great show. I enjoyed it the whole way through.

Season 2 though, has been pretty disappointing. I'm about halfway in. There doesn't feel like there's any structure at all other than "aim Carter at whatever the problem is and send Jarvis along I guess????" I don't like the black guy very much, even now that he's a ghost. Jarvis's wife is weird. Jarvis himself feels very tacked on to have just because we liked him last season. Sousa has a pointless fiancee that was introduced out of nowhere for no reason even though Carter has already said in an overture that she marries him. Which also makes her romance with the black guy pointless. Every romantic scene with the nurse or the black guy feels like a waste of time because we know it doesn't go anywhere.

Red Foreman working Thompson has been very by the numbers. Like at best he's just an annoying bureaucrat that's getting in the way which... is annoying, but more likely he's just a part of the villain group and is pushing Thompson to do what they want. Which is very transparent. I kinda think Thompson has been acting with a bit more forethought than we are supposed to believe though. Like he sent Carter to LA to so Sousa and Carter would finally work out their obvious feelings together or something. I mean he knows her skills better than anybody, so if he really just sent her away because she's annoying and a woman then god damn we have not gone anywhere since season 1. At least he's obviously going to sniff out Red's villainy and help Carter, but it's probably gonna feel a little hamfisted.

Dottie feels kinda annoying too. She was kinda on the line between being too weird and being just eccentric in the first season but she's way too smug in the opening bust and following interrogation.

The senator and his wife that's gaining superpowers are okay I guess. It's interesting seeing his growing unease with how deep into criminal activity and supervillainy they are getting, even though he was the bad guy to begin with. I'm willing to see more of them I guess but I don't love them

I dunno, everything about this season feels off. If they had never made a second season I would have been disappointed for sure, but seeing it makes me wish they hadn't and had just kept it as a pristine one season mini series.
