It all really goes back to an event called "The Big Switch" by the far left. This was an alleged event which caused the Democrats and Republicans to switch places on the topic of race relations, particularly in terms of segregation, discrimination, and culture, particularly between whites and blacks. It explains why Dr. King voted Republican, despite having no officially substantiated partisan affiliations, but now what appears to be best for the black community is demonstrated on the left.

The truth, however, as agreed upon by most actual historians and centrists is that the Republicans really maintained the same mentality toward African-American affairs that they always had. Northern Whigs and the Republicans that spun off of them abolished slavery and naturally forced it out of fashion in exchange for industrialization. Former Republican President Eisenhower sent armed soldiers to schools to ensure that black children weren't discriminated against. Nowadays, Republicans argue that blacks and whites have attained a status of social equity, if not that blacks are at a slight advantage in life compared to whites and Hispanics. That's an argument for a different topic.

Many black conservatives and classical liberals these days refer to the Democratic Party as the "Plantation" and believe that the parties didn't switch positions on their affairs, but rather that the Democrats did a complete 180, moving from the right-hand side of the aisle to the left, mostly because it's an easy voter base to get. However, recent events have changed a lot of people's minds about the reliability of the black vote for Democrats.

Couple this with the fact that the far-left platform blames whites, straights, men, Christians, and cis-people (whatever TF that really means) for everything and the center left has a hard time disassociating themselves with that mentality, especially considering that's the majority of their platform these days: Demonization of a perceived majority. Meanwhile, paleoconservatives and libertarians are actively condemning members of the extreme right, and you can sort of understand which party is more appealing as a whole.
