The pathetic desperation oozes out of him in every scene he's in. The movie doesn't try to make him anything but that It's the best thing about the movie by far Yeah, but it's TOOOO heavy-handed at some points. It was good in the beginning, even though it was clear that he was being set up to be the bad guy. Would've preferred if he were a red herring though. I must be a fool to think they would set someone up to be a red herring in an Iron Man movie though, right? Or, if Hammer was more evil, and Iron Man told Whiplash that he found out the truth about the Vanko family, and somehow got him to work with him to take down Hammer. But, comic villains.
