Texas

Texas is a lot more liberal than people think. And it's continuing to become more liberal as the years go on.

Most Texans (88%) live in Texan liberal cities.

they live in metro areas, not necessarily the central cities

and even the central cities in texas are relatively suburban in character and voting patterns

vs say a place like California where San Diego is considered fairly conservative (it would not be considered relatively conservative in Texas)

Greater San Diego still has a lot of rural areas (fewer every year, though). And there are a lot of former--and current--military folk there. Those are 2 of the reasons it leans conservative.
