Since you were in college you probably heard about the new studies that pheromones play in the evolution of social behavior throughout human history (see Guns, Germs and Steel), but in case you didn't its basically her body that got you hooked and essentially your brain got into the entire fantasy by releasing chemicals in your body that overwhelmed you to the point that made you believe you could be the man for her.
