I guess they made Hammer so unbelievably unlikable to make Whiplash more likable?

Nick Fury shows up and says... Tony turned him down?

So does this movie take place before the post-credits scene of Hulk then? Tony said he was looking for

Hammer handing this bunker-buster to Rhodes feels like a Chekhov's gun.

Young Howard Stark is better than middle-aged Howard Stark. This whole montage of watching old videos of him is dumb. It does nothing, aside from give him a chance to know his dad loved him. Wow.

Coulson is really catty in this film. Not sure if I like.

The pacing in this film is just.... eh. Something happens. Something immediately happens in response. It feels often like you're just in one extended scene.

And... Tony fixes his health problem. Suddenly... the movie is more interesting? I get that it's heading into the climax, but man I'm suddenly a lot more engaged.

Love Happy "I'm not driving you anywhere!" "Want me to drive?" "No I'm driving!" And then Peter Parker makes his debut appearance in the MCU.

Black Widow is awesome, but this scene with her breaking into Hammer headquarters is dumb. Just bring Hammer next time so you have authorization in person. It was cool watching Happy beat up a guy though.

Scene between Rhodes and Tony is A+. Fight scene that follows is pretty solid as well. Whiplash is a little disappointing though... the guy designs everything to get back at Stark... and he goes and fights him with a shoddy helmet and whips? For one, Tony is an idiot for not just flying away and getting distance, but after all this arc reactor stuff, Ivan just makes arc whips? Come on man. I guess that was the best way to get a physical consistent arc-powered weapon, but jeez. How lame.

O'Reilly and Musk cameos were a little funny. Stan Lee's was as lame as his Iron Man 1 one, except this time it was a split second and easy to miss.

Overall... what a transitional film. Basically existed to introduce Black Widow, and Rhodes as Iron Man, I guess. And further Tony's story development, but... eh. The vast portion of the movie was just uninteresting. And annoying at times. It had some really good moments, particularly between RDJ and Cheadle. Paltrow and Scarjo were amazing as well. But the plot, pacing, most of the action, the villain(s)... just, bleh. I'm going to have to ruminate on this for a bit to see if I rank it above or below Hulk.

Post-credits scene with Coulson driving out to New Mexico was hype as hell though. Thor has a lot of trouble fitting in to modern society, but that hammer. DAMN.
