Yeah I do believe there is a GOD. Now who, what, where, why and how. I do not know, but I do know he is an active GOD. I do not believe him coming down and announcing his presence would probably cause more issues then solve. GOD doesn't want us to rely on him all the time, he wants to see us grow. I also believe in yin-yang and karma. They are part of the systems GOD put in place. Science is all part of his creation as well, the bible was designed without man having this knowledge, so it was written in a way for man could understand.

But I believe the bible part metaphor and part fact. But too truly see this you need to look at the bible objectively and realize the bigger meaning to the book. Why was it written and who was it written for? It is both a history book and a work of fiction. Some things are a little exaggerate or watered down so early man could fully understand the concept of the book.

Unfortunately our knowledge has led us both closer to and away from GOD. Yes we now understand the universe a lot better, but people have a hard time realizing that the bible was explaining the creation of the universe to people who don't even understand how plants grow yet. So yes some liberties were taken. How do you explain the concept of the universe to a child?

It has brought us closer because we understand the materials he has worked with. Example, take the creariin of eve. It is written that GOD took the rib from Adam and created eve, what other creatures are capable of this? Oh why I know, the answers are cells. Adam and eve were cells, Adam through cellular mitosis, created eve.

an active god? way to allow cancer, war, genocide, etc...

(no god)

Well, how else are we gonna learn and make our own decision to stop that kind of behavior? Same principle as being a parent, if you do everything for your child, they will never grow. Us as a race would do nothing but rely on GOD for everything and never ever want to achieve things for ourselves. We would become stagnant. If you mean for GOD to make is immortal and the don't feel any negative emotions and only have happy thoughts, then that takes away from our freedom of choice and will. All of those things are created by man and are problems that we have to deal with.

Now exactly how GOD is a active GOD? Well one like the quote from futurama "if you do things right, no one will have know you did anything at all" GOD has long since stopped effecting the world directly. GOD is more subtle in GOD's approach, it's not like he uses a giant hand made of light to shape things. Hell I don't think anyone will ever understand exactly how he can control the universe but it isn't using magic.

The best way to describe it from my current understanding would be like a small gust of wind. Things so subtle you won't even notice unless you pay attention. I feel coincidences are a sign and sometimes luck could be considered. The best way to explain it is it is like a rube Goldberg machine. So many little events just add up overtime. So when someone prays, most likely that prayer was already being answered before it was even a thought. Sometimes though, things don't go the way we expect we blame GOD or some other force. But sometimes bad things have to happen in order for man to understand.

I know it's not much of a answer, but it's the best answer I can give right now. Only thing I can say is try to view it from GOD's perspective. Remember GOD is a being who is omnipotent and omnipresent.
