Why show mercy when no mercy was shown for the victims of what they did to earn themselves a death sentence? Other countries literally still stone and burn people alive as a penalty for crimes less than these. A lot of those countries have an insanely reduced crime rate compared to ours. Why? because they fear committing murder, rape, and other atrocities that earn themselves a reduced quality of life among animals.
