In Trails the 3rd, I finished off the last two Star Doors, so I've got them all now. Watching that Renne Star Door almost felt like I was playing Umineko or Higurashi there for a second. It was rather well done. And then in the final Star Door, we finally figure out what happened to the Aureole. Campanella snatched it and then delivered it to the Grandmaster of Ouroboros. Still doesn't explain why Weissmann suddenly lost control of it at the end of SC, but eh, whatever. Trails has set up a rather large universe with all these Anguis and the Grandmaster, as well as a bunch of other possible Enforcers out there. Makes me wonder if they'll ever really be able to tie it all together and bring it to a fitting conclusion at some point.

Once that was done, we took off on the Arseille toward Rufina. After piddling around for the entire game, Gilbert finally did something cool until the game decided to remind us all that he is still, in fact, Gilbert. Eventually, we reach the final dungeon, the appropriately named Phantasmagoria. Getting some really strong Ultimecia's Castle vibes from this place, which is a very good thing. I wish the game had given me some sort of warning that this was going to be a split-party dungeon that would require me to use all of my party members so I could've invested some sepith and money into getting them up-to-date equipment and quartz. Oh well, I made sure to split Kevin, Estelle, Joshua, and Kloe up between all four parties, so there should be one well equipped person in each group. Plus, the game gives you plenty of equipment and one monument along the way to help you out, and you get so much experience from the random battles that aren't very difficult that it all kinda balances out in the end. Zin went from being like level 115 to level 138 by the time we reached the end. I've only finished one so far, and the gate ended with us about to face a golden Pater-Mater (and I had Renne in my party there, too, so I wonder if it recognizes who's in your party and gives you an appropriate last boss or if I just got lucky. The game recognizes who's in your party and gives you weapons for who's in your party during these split-party dungeons, too, so who knows! Maybe every party fights one of these things).

Let me see if I can remember my party configurations.

Kevin/Ries/Julia/Mueller
Estelle/Zin/Renne/Anelace
Joshua/Agate/Schera/Josette
Kloe/Tita/Olivier/Richard

Yeah, that looks right.
