But I didn't. Regardless of whether the electronics can break, which they rarely do (just asked my mom how long she's had hers and she said about ten years - $1.20 per year less negative inflation, ongoing) even if you had to replace it once per year, that $12 is an amazing trade-off for the amount of time you wait. You can get more money, you can't get more time. It's actually been mentioned quite a few times already by others who use electric kettles.

I do realise that most of you are stuck in your ways, so there's no point in trying to convince you that $12 actually isn't a lot of money for the convenience.
