I don't even know if it has anything to do with conservatives. Roseanne has always sort of straddled the line. The reason I'd say it was satire, though, is because IIRC she is part Jewish, and that sort of satire has always been her bread and butter. No one is going around trying to get Mel Brooks in trouble for constantly mocking Hitler throughout his career.

Of course, I didn't get the big problem with Griffin either, other than the fact that it wasn't a clever jab and instead went straight for the shock humor.
