What gets me is that everyone thinks they should be able to say whatever they want, no matter how odious or despicable, on Facebook and other social media without suffering any consequences. That's not how free speech works, folks. Yes, you're free to say what you wish and the government can't punish you (with a few exceptions) but it doesn't mean a private entity such as your employer can't.

That would be fine if the woman were saying something that was extremely outlandish or offensive, but all she did was assert that a criminal deserved what happened to them. Literally the only reason she got fired is because American Media is raking in huge stacks of cash courtesy of our current outrage culture where every black man shot by police is completely innocent, regardless of how much evidence to the contrary there is and large companies don't want the bad press.

Free speech should apply to private companies, to an extent.
