I'm probably the last person to talk to about relationships but I would think that stringing someone along, letting them build up their hopes and dreams that include you while not feeling the same isn't the right move just because it's a easy option. If said relationship is going nowhere fast for you it's best to end things before things get even more serious. Choosing the safe option and not feeling content with it is a guarantee that things will end on a sour note and you'll probably be more inclined to cheat as you're not truly happy. It'll also show you don't really care about the other persons feelings and that would make you a bad person.
