They want to make a name for themselves, and this is definitely giving fuel to the next person. They'll see this dude getting tons of mail from girls and think they can be swimming in p**** if they do the next one. I think that's putting the cart before the horse. It's not as if they say "What's the easiest way to be famous?" and the answer is "Shoot up my school".
