I don't have much to say about Brutal Legend either, because I played it all the way back in 2009 and forgot about it. Tim Schafer can be quite a genius sometimes. With this, he creates an open world based entirely on metal/hard rock, and likens a character to Jack Black and has him voice him as the main. He even gets some famous people to voice the other characters, like Tim Curry, Lemmy Kilmister (RIP), Ozzy, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest.

Brutal Legend had this weird RTS mechanic that comes out of nowhere about a quarter into the game and is quite prevalent till the end. It was a little confusing to learn but nothing terrible. Problem is, this game was never advertised as an RTS prior to its release. We all thought it was going to be a sandbox/GTA-like action based on classic 70s, 80s and 90s metal. It still is, but it just has that catch. I blame EA, obviously, who probably didn't think the game would sell as well if the RTS portions of the game were known.

I heard there's a sequel coming out, though!

haha, I forgot about this game. I remember being pretty interested, and I rented it (at a blockbuster of course). Once I got to the RTS parts, I was out. Like you said, wasn't talked about at all in the lead up.
