The reason it's not free because most of the assets here were designed by the creator, Harmonic. The rest of the assets came with the RPG Maker RTP package. That said, he did offer a demo for this and if you liked it you can purchase the game for $9.99, which might be a little hefty for a 12 hour JRPG. I think one of the things I enjoyed is the setting here, as it takes place in one big tower-like city. Claret is an engineer that lives on the middle level of the city, while the evil winged people who rule the city live in the upper sector. Some things happen, and Claret soon finds herself involved in some shenanigans and goes on a journey to save her city. There's a high level of detail in every map and a really cool Steampunk setting, and I'm pretty sure that's what drew me in. Despite the detail however, there isn't much to see or find in any of the maps, and the dungeons are a little bit overlong. The battle system is also pretty generic; Harmonic's next release, Echoes of Aetheria, fixes this by containing a very unique and strategic battle layout (this game will show up later on the list). Also, the music is really, really good, and it's all composed by the creator. Some of it is reused from his previous games and some of it is used again in his next release. The story is also pretty good and has a neat twist later on.
