That happens in investigations sometimes, but I feel like that never happens in trials! Also, 1-5 is probably the only case where they actually had me believing the assistant character did it. They really pursued that angle hard and sold me on it. also I like the fact that Lana Skye says testimony won't work when reviewing SL-9 because both the culprit and the victim are dead, and Phoenix is just like, "Well, we certainly can't get dead people to testify."
