Just the basic life skills you're taught are valuable, not to mention the discipline and sense of responsibility. Nah. Of all the ideas we can steal from other nations, the idea of mandatory shit like that isn't one of them. Individualism is something that is a core tenet of our country, we don't need to be pushing people through a "training" program. And believe me, there's plenty of people, including basically all those in those pictures here, that I'd enjoy seeing go through such a thing simply for the hilarity.
